For parents and students
Raising children and paying for college both cost a lot. There's help at each stage, from Child Benefit to the student grant from SUSI (the student grant office).
Some of it comes without asking. Most of it you have to claim, and some you can claim for past years.
A family on €45,000 a year with two children, the elder starting college 30 km or more from home and earning €3,000 in the holidays.
Student grant, 2026/27
€7,222.00
The student could get about €7,222 for 2026/27, with €4,722 towards living costs and €2,500 for the college's yearly charge. SUSI (the student grant office) decides.
