DIRT
Deposit Interest Retention Tax: 33% taken from interest on Irish savings accounts.
Banks deduct DIRT (Deposit Interest Retention Tax) before paying interest, so most people have nothing more to do. Interest from foreign accounts is taxed through your return. Some people over 65 or with an incapacity can claim it back.
