PRSI
Pay Related Social Insurance: contributions that build up your right to the State Pension and other benefits.
Most employees pay Class A PRSI and most self-employed people pay Class S. Rates rise each 1 October under a plan set in 2024: 4.20% until 30 September 2026, 4.35% from 1 October 2026.
Unlike income tax, PRSI isn't reduced by tax credits. The contributions you pay are recorded towards benefits such as the State Pension (Contributory), Jobseeker's Benefit and Maternity Benefit.
