Rent Tax Credit
A credit for people renting privately: 20% of rent paid, up to €1,000 in 2026 and €1,150 in 2027.
The credit is 20% of qualifying rent, capped at €1,000 for a single person and €2,000 for a couple taxed jointly in 2026. Budget 2027 raises the caps to €1,150 and €2,300.
Claim it in myAccount during the year, or for earlier years through your return. The tenancy must generally be registered with the Residential Tenancies Board.
