Can I get the Historic Structures Fund?

Common questions

How much is the Historic Structures Fund?

From €50,000 to €200,000: half the eligible cost (the cost it can pay towards). In exceptional cases more, up to 80% of the cost.

Can I use it for my own house?

Only if the project brings a clear benefit to the community or the public, or new homes. For repairs to your own home, try the Built Heritage grant.

When can I apply?

Once a year. The 2027 call opened on 28 July 2026 and closes on 27 November 2026, or earlier at some councils. Calls open each summer.

Who decides?

Your council picks up to 3 private projects and sends them to the Department, which decides. It's very competitive.

Can the grant run over 2 years?

Yes. Say so on Form A, with how much you want in each year. It needn't be half and half.
