Your payslip
Taxed perks on your payslip
Perks such as a company car or health insurance are added to your pay for tax.
A benefit in kind (BIK) is a perk from work that is taxed. Common examples are a company car and health insurance your employer pays for. It shows on your payslip as notional pay. That means its value is added to your pay for tax, but you don't get it in cash. So it raises the income tax, USC and PRSI taken off.
Small perks that aren't cash are tax-free. Since 2025, you can get up to five a year, worth no more than €1,500 in total. A single perk worth more than €1,500 is taxed in full.
