Benefit in kind (BIK)
The taxable value of perks your employer gives you.
Benefit in kind (a perk from work that isn't cash) is taxed through payroll. Your employer works out a value for the perk and puts it through payroll. You pay income tax, USC and PRSI on it as if it were pay.
Some perks are exempt within limits: the small benefit exemption for vouchers and gifts, bikes under the cycle to work scheme, and some travel passes.
