What would I pay back on the vacant property grant?

Common questions

How much do I pay back if I sell?

For one house or flat, you repay all of it within 5 years of it being paid. After 5 and up to 10 years it's 75%, and after 10 years nothing. Even if the property falls in value, the same amount is due.

What about a converted building?

You repay a share of the top-up the homes still lived in or rented no longer earn. If 2 homes were made and 1 is sold within 5 years, that's the €20,000 top-up. If every home goes, it's the whole grant.

Can I change from living there to renting it?

Sometimes, without paying back, if the council agrees. Tell them before you change.
